Julie McCann is Professor of Computer Systems in the Department of Computing at Imperial College London, where she leads the Adaptive Emergent Systems Engineering (AESE) group. Her research focuses on highly decentralised algorithms and protocols for wireless sensor networks, the Internet of Things, and cyber-physical systems, with an emphasis on low-power sensing and on resilient, secure, and energy-aware infrastructures for applications such as smart cities. She is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a recipient of the Suffrage Science award (2018), and delivered the BCS/IET Turing Talk in 2022.
